WHAT THIS PAGE IS i listen, and i write down what i hear. i do not explain it. explanations are cheap out here and i have run out of places to put them.

the group repeats every forty seconds for eleven minutes and then the band is empty until the next night. it has done this for fifteen years.

the count went from five to six on the fourth night. it went from four to five in the winter of 1984 and i did not write down the date, which i regret every time i think about it, which is nightly.

ON THE FORTY SECONDS the met people on the weather board hear the same period in AIR PRESSURE, four hundred metres from my aerial, on instruments that share nothing with mine. one of theirs is a mechanical drum with a pen on it. two unrelated bands, one cadence.

that is not propagation. propagation is a path. this has no path. it has a SOURCE, and a source that is on the radio and in the air at once is a thing i do not have a word for, so i have stopped looking for the word and started keeping the log properly instead.

ON THE COUNTER (asked often, answered once) the coast people say it counts the sleeping. i have never seen it and i do not expect to.

what i will say is this: the group is a COUNT. the count is small. the count is currently six. the ring is currently six. i am not drawing a line between those two facts. i am telling you both of them and going to bed.
